How Do I Get Gum Out of My Carpet?
To remove chewing gum from your carpet, you will need just three simple items, which you likely have around your home! You will need:
- Plastic bag (such as a sandwich bag)
- Spoon or blunt knife
Step 1: Ice
While this may sound like a weird step, it will make removing the gum from your carpet much easier. For this first step, you should put a few cubes of ice into a plastic bag (such as a sandwich bag).
Step 2: Rub
Once you have bagged your ice cubes, rub the ice over the area of carpet with the gum. Keep rubbing the area until the gum is frozen solid.
Step 3: Removal
Now that the gum is frozen solid, it is time to remove that gum! You should use a spoon, or a blunt knife to scrape away the gum. It is important that you do this before the gum becomes sticky again. Once the gum becomes sticky again, you can damage your carpet by continuing to scrape the gum.
Step 4: Repeat
Didn’t manage to get all the gum out before it became sticky again? Not to worry, simply repeat the above steps until you manage to remove all the gum from your carpet.
