How to keep carpets clean

Once you’ve decided on which types and design of flooring we have on offer you would like in your home, we don’t stop there. We want you to enjoy your new flooring in pristine condition for as long as possible. If you’ve chosen carpeted flooring, it comes with a few extra challenges. That’s why today, we will give you our best advice on how to keep carpets clean.

Ensuring that you know how to keep carpets clean will make a world of difference to your interior. You will feel more at ease and ready to relax at home with stain-free and odour-free carpets.

By following the steps below, you will be able to keep your floors spotless.

1. No Shoes Inside

We recommend keeping your shoes tucked away in a shoe cabinet. Wearing shoes indoors will allow the dirt you’ve accumulated when walking to stain your clean carpets. Wearing shoes indoors will also wear down carpets considerably faster than when wearing slippers or socks.

2. Vacuum regularly

Vacuuming often can feel like a chore, especially when you’re leading a busy lifestyle, but it’s the only way to keep your interior in tip-top shape. We recommend vacuuming at least 2 to 3 times a week to get rid of small dirt particles. We would also advise replacing filters or bags fairly regularly, to make sure your vacuum cleaner can be used at optimal strength.

3. Deep Clean Twice a Year

Finally, our last advice would be to deep clean your carpets at least twice a year. If we had to give just one advice on how to keep carpets clean, that would be it! If you can afford it, we recommend hiring a professional who will care for your carpets and make it look spotless. Otherwise, another alternative would be to hire a carpet cleaner machine and do it yourself.

4 . Treat Stains Straight Away

If despite your precautions, your carpet gets stained, don’t panic, but act fast.  It’s a good idea to keep an ‘emergency stains kit’ on hand. It can be composed of a commercial carpet stain remover, as well as baking soda, which will remove stains such as wine or blood.

Keeping a few things on hand means you can deal with any spills as they happen.
