The Ultimate Luxury Vinyl Tile Installation and Care Guide

What is Luxury Vinyl Tile?

LVT is a type of flooring that can take on the appearance of wood, stone or ceramic tile. Also luxury vinyl tile is available in a range of colours and textures. This type of flooring is very similar to laminate in the way that it can have an embossed/scraped surface texture.

Just like the other manmade flooring options we offer at Joe Walker’s Flooring – laminate flooring and sheet vinyl – luxury vinyl tiles are made up of different layers. There are 6;

  • The base, fibreglass and middle layers – these are the layers that give the tiles/planks the most structural support. The base is reinforced with fibreglass material that makes sure there is stability. This fibreglass also prevents the plank from curling and provides an extra cushioned feel underfoot.
  • The design layer – this layer is the one that has the wood/ceramic/stone pattern on it. Due the popularity of LVT, the technology which creates these realistic designs is always improving and so, there are so many new and improved options on the market.
  • Wear and protective coating layer – these layers are there for protection and to ensure that the LVT can be maintained, cleaned and resistant to deep marks.

At Joe Walker’s Flooring we offer a huge variety of vinyl flooring, including;

  • Karndean
  • Lifestyle Designer
  • Moduleo
  • Polyflor
  • Quick Step

Joe Walker’s Flooring will carry out a quick, careful LVT installation.

After choosing your ideal LVT with help from our team, all you need to do next is wait for the installation. The vinyl tiles chosen are laid one by one and there will be different options of underlay depending on the room you are installing it in. The installers from Joe Walker’s Flooring will deal with prepping the floor, the trim and every other part of the process.

What is the difference between LVT and sheet vinyl?

LVT comes in tiles and boards, and is fitted one by one – this makes for a more precise luxury vinyl tile installation than sheet vinyl. LVT gives you more freedom when it comes it’s appearance, as you can have 2 or more different styles of LVT fitted together; whereas sheet vinyl doesn’t allow for a mix. Another difference is that sheet vinyl is made of a more cushioned material whereas LVT tiles or planks have a harder feel and texture.
