Using baking soda is a great way to clean your carpet – it’s both easy and efficient. Simply follow these steps:
- Sprinkle the powder liberally over the carpet.
- Leave the powder for approximately 30 minutes, (longer if possible) this gives the powder time to work into the carpet, softening the stains and removing odours.
- Vacuum up the powder to reveal your good as new carpet.
Do NOT Scrub Your Carpet
When you are cleaning your carpet, it is vital that you do NOT scrub your carpet. Over scrubbing your carpet will destroy the fibres of your carpet, and you will have to replace it far sooner than would usually be required.
Don’t Use Too Much Water
It is also crucial that you don’t use too much water when cleaning your carpet. Using too much water can lead to water seeping under the carpet which can lead to bad smells and mildew.
One of the best ways to keep your carpet looking good as new, is to vacuum your carpets regularly. Regular vacuuming will pick up on any dirt and grime which otherwise might become embedded in your carpet, leaving it looking dull and dirty. It can also be a good idea to use welcome mats at the doors to your home, this will reduce the amount of dirt brought into your home and onto your carpets.
